City of Miami Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadmap
The City of Miami has set the ambitious goal of increasing adoption of zero-emissions vehicles (ZEVs) to 40 percent by 2035. They engaged our team to develop a comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) Roadmap that outlines a strategic approach to transitioning vehicles and infrastructure throughout the city.
Our tasks included EV adoption forecasting for various scenarios and considerations of the needs across different land uses, such as tourist attractions, public land, and commercial spaces. We conducted geographic information systems (GIS) analysis and identified optimal charging sites and provided recommendations to enhance equitable access to EV charging.
Utilizing our proprietary ZEVDecide? infrastructure mapping tool, we significantly reduced the project delivery timeline from the typical nine months to just two. ZEVDecide? enabled us to efficiently map out the necessary infrastructure and streamline the planning process. Additionally, we developed a workforce development plan, a partnerships strategy, and a governance and policy roadmap to support the successful implementation of the EV Roadmap.
This project not only positions Miami as a leader in sustainability but also serves as a model for other municipalities looking to enhance their fleet electrification efforts. By adopting similar strategies, cities can significantly reduce their carbon footprint, improve public health, and lead the way in environmental stewardship. The City of Miami's proactive strategy demonstrates the tangible benefits of integrating advanced planning, design, and engineering solutions to achieve sustainability goals.
