Â鶹ÊÓƵ utilizes Airbus¡¯ Pl¨¦iades to detect hazardous pipeline right-of-way encroachments

July 17, 2025

For an Airbus case study, Grant Wiseman describes the use of high-res satellite imagery to monitor pipeline encroachment for clients

We use high-resolution satellite images to find third-party pipeline encroachments. Those could threaten the safety of buried hydrocarbon lines.

Our PipeWATCH service has detected many encroachments that triggered email alerts to the pipeline operator. Often, waste dumping and farming activities are flagged. But the most serious threats involved non-permitted placement of backyard sheds or similar construction by a private landowner whose property abutted the pipeline corridor.
